Cabins. Four spacious contemporary cabins each have en-suite marble bathrooms and dressing areas.

Couvrot to Epernay

Life on France’s waterways is lived at a gentle pace. Recline on the deck of your luxury barge and admire stunning rural views, or set off into the landscape to visit pretty medieval towns and historic champagne houses...the choice is yours.

Day 1. Join us for a champagne reception as we welcome you aboard at Epernay. Settle in and meet the captain and crew. Later, take a seat as chef serves an exquisite gourmet dinner for your first night on board.

Day 2. Savour a delicious breakfast as we cruise along the canal at a gentle pace. Spend the rest of the morning a leisure, perhaps reclining on the deck to admire the beautiful views. After lunch, head to Epernay with your guide. This charming town is brimming with champagne provenance. Wander along the Avenue de Champagne to the prestigious house of Moet & Chandon, where you’ll enjoy an exclusive tasting. Head to the celebrated La Briquette restaurant for a sumptuous early-evening dinner.

Day 3. Relax this morning as the barge glides past glorious vineyards and rural scenes. Lunch is served on board followed by a scenic drive into the countryside. Arrive at the house of Champagne J de Telmont. Here you’ll enjoy a fascinating oenological workshop to uncover the process of making champagne. Visit the abbey at Hautvillers before you return to the barge. You’ll find the tomb of Dom Perignon here, overlooking beautiful vineyards. Back onboard, enjoy a delicious dinner of fine French cuisine.

Day 4. Today the barge arrives in the pretty town of Chalons-en-Champagne. Set off to explore the gothic Saint-Etienne Cathedral and wander among the gardens of Notre-Dame-en-Vaux Cloister. Remarkable statues guard the walls of the cloister, waiting to be admired. Your guide leads you on a tour through the town before you return to the barge for a sumptuous dinner this evening.

Day 5. After breakfast head to La Mains de Massiges with your guide. The trenches here were built in wavy lines to avoid gunfire during World War I. A nearby cemetery shelters the graves of fallen soldiers. After a delicious lunch, return to the barge for a leisurely afternoon before dinner.

Day 6. Today visit the royal town of Reims. 34 French sovereigns were crowned here, sparking a trend for serving the local sparkling wine at celebrations. Marvel at the impressive gothic cathedral and explore the Musée des Beaux-Arts. You’ll have some free-time to wander among the charming boutiques before returning to the barge for lunch. That evening Chef prepares a fabulous farewell gala dinner for your final evening on board.

Day 7. Awake to enjoy an indulgent breakfast. After, the crew bids you a fond farewell as you disembark for your onward travel arrangements.

Day 2: Relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning as we glide along the canal. After lunch, head to Reims— the crowning place of 34 French sovereigns and an important centre for champagne production. Marvel at the impressive gothic cathedral and explore the Musée des Beaux-Arts. Later, spend some free-time in the city to explore the many boutiques. Return to the barge late afternoon for cocktails followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Day 3: The morning is yours to enjoy at leisure. Alight for a gentle stroll along the towpath, or cycle alongside the barge. Day 2. After breakfast, set off to Chalons-en-Champagne with your guide. Discover the town’s architectural heritage with a visit to Saint-Etienne Cathedral and the museum of Notre-Dame-en-Vaux Cloister. Return to the barge to set sail along the canal, absorbing scenes of rural France as you enjoy a delicious lunch on the deck. Later, head to a family-run champagne house for a tasting. It was here during World War I that American troops halted the progression of the German Army. 2,288 American casualties were buried in Aisne-Marne nearby. Today, the cemetery is a peaceful space to reflect on lives lost. After an emotive morning, follow your guide to the enchanting medieval town of Courchelles. A delectable lunch is served back on board the barge. The afternoon is yours to spend relaxing on the deck as we glide past picturesque rural villages.

Day 2. Enjoy a delicious breakfast this morning. After, your guide leads you into the heart of Chalons-en-Champagne for an eye-opening tour. Step through the gothic doors of Saint-Etienne cathedral to marvel at the arched ceilings and stained glass windows. Next, wander among the remarkable statues at Notre-Dame-en-Vaux cloister. Later, return to the barge to enjoy your first cruise along the picturesque canal. After lunch, set off on a scenic drive to the abbey at Hautvillers. Here you'll find the tomb of Dom Perignon, the illustrious father of champagne. Back on board, the house of Ployez-Jacquemart send there best champagne connoisseurs for a tasting. Tonight we moor in Jaulgonne.

Day 3. After a delicious breakfast, take a picturesque drive to Bellau Wood. Here American troops halted the progression of the German Army during World War 1. Take time to reflect on the region's wartime past at the nearby Aisne-Marne Cemetery, where 2,228 American soldiers are buried. Later, return to the barge for lunch. This afternoon your guide leads you to Chezy-sur-Marne for a gastronomic adventure. This enchanting medieval town is brimming with historic charm. Sample the famours Brie de Meaux at a local fromargerie, or enjoy a tasting in the house of Champagne Pannier. Back on board, chef prepares a farewell feast for your final evening on board.
